"A dog lying starving at his            master's gate

predicts the ruin of the state." William Blake.

Basically, he is pointing out that this practice is a reversal of civiliation...

Processed dog food has an extremely high carbon foot print.

Food that is left over from the family has no carbon foot print. New research findings have also shown that dogs that are fed on family food live much longer and are much healthier.

In the wild dogs eat the vegetable contents of their prey and vegetation therefore is essential to their well being. Dogs on highly processsed dog food crave these nutrients, and therefore eat a lot of grass when they get the opportunity, supplementing the lack in their diet which they are craving.

Further, because of is heated to very high temperatures, as we know, this also destroys vital enzymes, phyto's and most nutrition, leading to an extremely high escalation in the incidence of cancer in our domestic pets.

Stealing Food

Obtaining sufficient calories for the dog's daily needs, so that he does not burn up more than he takes in, is an essential survival instinct that our domestic dog cannot attend to himself. He has no way of saying "I'm still hungry" or "this food is revolting" or "this food is off", and our current system lacks the sensitivity that is needed to take our dog out of survival, so that he can concentrate on healthy relationships. (Seeing us more than just a meal ticket, for instance.)

When a dog is using up more calories than he is taking in, he goes into famine, and hunting behaviour (which we call "behaviour problems") start manifesting themselves. This essential subject is totally overlooked by the current system who teach dog owners to give their dogs the same amount of calories that laboratory dogs who burn up far less fuel (and food is fuel) than the domestic dog. The result is dogs fighting over food, dog aggression, lowered immune system causing high vet bills, destructive behaviour as dogs try to hunt our possessions, other pets – and even us.

Pam teaches the essential concept of eco feeding, where dogs in the wild hunt until there is food left for vultures and jackals, packs live in harmony and humans would not be preyed on, because the food supply is more than adequate. The change in the dog's behaviour and improvement in his health is dramatic once this basic survival need is attended to. you'd like to be able to trust your pet, and not have him behaving as if he has never been fed. And how can you trust your dog if he can't trust you, his leader, to be an efficient and successful hunter, because he always finishes his food after each meal?

Not only do laboratories not reflect real life, but dogs do not become overweight from enough of the right food – they get overweight from eating junk food, which hopefully, your dog’s not getting. And laboratory dogs do not get a fraction of the exercise dogs in the average home get. Weighing a dog does not reflect his calorie (energy) needs any more than weighing a car reflets it's needs for fuel. The further they go, the more fuel they need. All these misunderstandings lead to hunger-related behavioural problems, eating disorders, dog fights.... and all the stress and anxiety that goes with permanent hunger.

Free Information:
Where calorie output exceeds calorie input, there are famine conditions. By imitating famine conditions rather than feeding conditions that induce peace of mind and a strong immune system - our vet bills are costing us an arm and a leg.

The booklet New Research Findings into Feeding Our Pets for Temperament (which can be ordered from Dr. Anderson at Paul@TrustWorthyDogs.com) goes into this essential subject more deeply. It is free of charge.

Being both sensitive to the dog's needs and being correctly informed has saved many dogs from euthanasia and many children and innocent people from attacks resulting from predation.

Dogs that are getting sufficient calories do not steal food. and only the dog himself knows how many calories he needs.
